The Residential Clean Energy Credit ended for homeowner purchases made after 31 December 2025. Plenty of quotes in this valley still have it baked into the savings number. We would rather lose a sale than let you sign expecting a check that isn't coming.

What changed the math more: NEM 3.0. Exported power now earns a fraction of retail, so savings come from what you use while the panels are making it — which is why batteries moved to the center of the conversation.
What to ask anyone quoting you: "Does this assume a 30% federal credit?" and "What export rate did you use?" If the answer to the second one is your retail rate, the savings estimate is inflated.

Not always, but it is worth being honest about. Panels last 25+ years. If your roof has under about ten years left in it, taking an array off and putting it back later costs real money — so it is usually cheaper to re-roof the array footprint first.
